Thought of the Day

Speed of Stone

What time scale measures your life? In an age of 24/7/265 with ultrafast connectivity young people are still searching for rivers and lochs to swim in. This is the time of year to pick brambles from the hedgerows and enjoy the occasional day when the summer lingers.

  • When was the last time you did nothing long enough to be bored?
  • Can you help make space for someone to take time out?
  • Do you have any deep dreams that might become day dreams, and possibilities?

If you want your dream to be
Take your time, go slowly
Do few things but do them well
Heartfelt work grows purely
If you want to live life free
Take your time, go slowly
Do few things but do them well
Heartfelt work grows purely

Day by day, stone by stone
Build your secret slowly
Day by day, you’ll grow too
You’ll know heaven’s glory

If you want your dream to be
Take your time, go slowly
Do few things but do them well
Heartfelt work grows purely
If you want to live life free
Take your, time go slowly
Do few things but do them well
Heartfelt work grows purely

Day by day, stone by stone
Build your secret slowly
Day by day, you’ll grow too
You’ll know heaven’s glory

Used in the film Brother Sun, Sister Moon

One reply on “Speed of Stone”

Good to remember that time is a flexible construct that can enable us to escape from the constraints of mortal limitations…
Put more simply I mean it is great that we can slow down and take more of God’s goodness into our lives.
The song’s lyrics put it better.
