The other Wordsmith Crafts project is Cluaran. While Quartz explores the spiritual heritage, using the arts to help people learn #SensingSpirituality, Cluaran concentrates material culture and history.
These two are, of course, closely linked. Recently, summerhill community centre held a mediaeval feast. This was an all age event, led by the young people who have been exploring their local history for over a year. the have been helped in this by organisations and individuals including the Stove Network, Historic Environment Scotland, The Imaginarium and also Wordsmith Crafts.
They have taken part in trips, made clothing and other crafts, and have also used their skills and interest to introduce the Ukrainian group to Caerlaverock when they were over.
