An opportunity to take time out in the run up to Christmas 2024. You are invited to help by volunteering, or simply drop in. As mentioned in a previous post, Wordsmith Crafts has a space in the Loreburn centre in Dumfries every Saturday from St. Andrews day to the weekend of the 21st/22nd
Quartz volunteers, with Cluaran members, will help people learn to make gifts out of simple donated and recycled materials. For example turning scrap wire into a bracelet, or fold paper into a gift of memories.
These simple tasks can be a gateway to thinking deep thoughts about Christmas, family, values as well as providing practical help at what can be a very stressful time of year. Some people will just want to sit and make things, others will be up for a chat, our job is to create a free and peaceful space – but without becoming a dumping ground for free childcare!
