A crowd of us gathered to eat pancakes last night. A variety of toppings were enjoyed. Some were dairy free, some gluten free. Spam fritters featured. The pancakes included “Drop Scones (Scotch Pancakes)”, “Crepes”, Ukrainian style, and both sweet and savoury.
The conversation flowed and saints were discussed as well as more everyday matters. Here are some questions to reflect on
- If a gathering is genuinely good – does that mean that it is Godly?
- When you enjoy a sacred building aesthetically are you experiencing the presence of God?
- In what ways is academic research, rational enquiry, spiritual reflection on Truth?
- If you chat with a Saint, in what ways could they reply?
Today is Ash Wednesday, but as we were reminded by Steven at the service in St Johns, stars are also dust. We come from dust and to dust we will return – but that dust is stardust. Have confidence!
There might be no return to the garden of Eden, but creation is pregnant with the eternal potential of the Children of God. The current troubles are the pangs of childbirth.
