16/11/24 Forest Church Special

Time out to reflect on “Calling” and the life of St Margaret

Saturday the 16th of November is the day that St Margaret of Scotland is re-membered by many. We will be hosted for the first Forest Church gathering in Asheiri, Creetown.

So please come and join us from 2.30 on Saturday the 16th of November to start at 3pm

The plan for the day will be:

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Some land art to root us in the place
    • Round the fire
  • Singing and some stories of the life of Margaret
  • Time for reflection round the fire
  • Hot drinks and something to eat

Asheiri,
The Lodge,
Hill of Burns,
Hill Street,
Creetown,
Wigtownshire.

If you are curious…

Asheiri is Gaelic for ‘resurrection’, ‘welcome back’ or ‘welcome home’. It is the name for a network of spiritual free spirits who welcome others along the way. You can read more on their website.

Queen Margaret of Scotland was recognised as someone special for her piety and works of charity. She grew up in Hungary, but was possibly born in Kiev. Through her relationships to many of the powerful dynasties in Europe at the time she had little choice about where she lived – but her calling to follow a religious life worked out in practice where she found herself. As an appetiser you can find out more about her story from Historic Environment Scotland here

and the Franciscans here.
