Quartz Easter Weekend 19th/20th April 2025
Easter Banner
This Easter, as Quartz and the wider community, have been using visual arts to explore contrasts inspired by early medieval crosses.

Visually there are contrasts between stone and vegetation, the overflowing of life and containers that hold things together.
The banners will hang in darkness, like burial cloths, until they are illuminated at the 8.30pm Easter Eve service on the 19th of April.
Here a Paschal candle will be kindled to start the new year. Come along and experience a ritual that would have been familiar to Gallovidians in Dumfries over 1500 years ago!

Easter Sunday – Forest Church
As has been our practice for a good few years now we will gather to eat together, tell stories and perhaps sing some songs. We do this on the beach opposite Lincluden Abbey, and it reminds us of Jesus meeting his friends on the shores of the sea of Gallilee.
Join with us for a #SensingSpirituality to walk upstream along the river footpath after the 11 O’clock service in St Johns building. Walking can be moving our bodies to set our minds in a good place.
Come to the service at 11 ! and we will leave after coffee, or meet outside St John’s building ready to set off by 13.00.
If you are driving, then park in the Nunholm car park and take a short stroll downstream around 13.30.
There is a path, but the ground can be uneven. There are no facilities ! and you may want to bring a deck chair. Bring food and drink to share, and stories of resurrection! The topic of the afternoon will be salvation, in all it’s wide diversity.
