Easter Art

The reconstructed colours from 1300 years ago!

Easter is a time of contrasts. We will be exploring themes of stone and vegetation, structure and chaos, overflowing of life and containers that hold things together.

Help make a banner after the 11 O’clock service on Palm Sunday (13th of April) in St Johns. We will also be working on it at the contemporary service at 6pm that evening.

We are using a combination of painting, printing, and stamping to make this a community art project.

It will hang like burial cloths, until illuminated by light at the service where the Paschal cross is kindled.

Inspiration has been drawn from the Anglian high crosses. They are solid stone, unyielding. They also contain carvings of vines, animals and birds. They are havens for life.
